I spoke recently to a candidate who wants to change jobs even though it's been less than three months since he started.
What went wrong?
The job was completely different than what was described during the interview.
He felt cheated.
Unfortunately, he is not the only one. I have also spoken to
- Back-end developers who are asked to work as full-stack developers.
- Architects working 90% as developers.
- Contractors who have been sold the newest technologies when in reality they are asked to work on old ones.
And the list goes on.
This is a reminder for us recruiters and hiring managers to ask for all the facts before assuming that a short mission was due to the candidate being incompetent or doing something wrong.
Because not only candidates err; sometimes companies do, too.
